Our Story
The Stinging Nettle started at my kitchen counter, not in a business plan. I had already spent nearly 10 years working in conventional medicine before I ever made a product. So, when my kids were young and dealing with chronic eczema and allergies, I didn’t turn to plants right away, I turned to the system I already trusted. It didn’t have an answer. I couldn’t rely on clean ingredients that actually worked, so I started making my own: skincare and wellness products.
In 2013, pregnant with my second and waking up nightly to charlie horses that no amount of banana-eating would fix, I made my first batch of magnesium spray just to get through the night. It worked. That was the first real sign this wasn’t just a kitchen project; it was something other people needed too.
By 2015 I was selling online as Basal Organics, then farmers markets, then Rooted With Ali in 2018 one bottle, one market, one customer at a time, for years, while I went through herb school and into clinical practice as a family herbalist. The magnesium spray is still one of our bestsellers, along with the magnesium body butter that followed a few years later.
Once I was in clinical practice, I realized something: I shouldn’t be the only practitioner someone sees. Wellness is rarely linear, and it’s rarely something one provider can solve alone. That idea became our wellness clinic. A space where independent practitioners, each running their own practice, come together under one roof to support the whole person: body and mind. We trust each other’s work and refer within our community when it’s the right fit for you.
By the time we opened our doors in Loveland in September 2024, we weren’t starting from scratch, we were finally giving years of work a home. Everything on our shelves. The tinctures, the skincare, the wellness products, is still made in-house, by hand, the same way it started. That belief is still what everyone here works from, from our apothecary team to our practitioners.

Not sure what a tincture even is, or where to start with herbal medicine? You’re in good company, that’s most of the people who walk through our door. Every person on our apothecary team is a trained herbalist, so whether you’re grabbing your first bottle of elderberry syrup or you’ve been studying plant medicine for years, you’ll get real answers, not a sales pitch.

Every product on our shelves is made in this shop, by hand, in small batches, not a white-label formula shipped in from somewhere else. From sourcing herbs to formulating each product, we believe quality begins long before something reaches the shelf. We keep ingredient lists short on purpose: minimal, raw, organic, and wildcrafted where we can, because we believe less is more when the ingredients are the right ones. No two batches are ever exactly alike. But nothing leaves our shelves without meeting our own standard first — we value transparency, craftsmanship, and respect for the plants that make this work possible
Community is Part of Healing
We weren’t meant to heal alone. Everything we offer, the apothecary, the clinic, the classes exists to bring real, holistic care into downtown Loveland, close to home instead of a drive away. It’s a place to ask questions, get real support, and be reminded that you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to health, and no finish line either. We’re honored to walk alongside our community wherever they are on that path.

Every herb begins with the soil it grows in. Before there was an apothecary here, this land sustained generations of Indigenous peoples who knew, cared for, and lived in relationship with the plants and waters of this region. We acknowledge that The Stinging Nettle Apothecary & Integrated Wellness Clinic stands on the traditional homelands of the Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Ute Peoples, and we recognize that Indigenous communities continue to care for these lands today.
